| How to Make a Stereo DVD Into Multichannel Surround Sound Circuitries such as THX, Dolby Pro Logic, Dolby Digital, and DTS all matrix stereo 2-channel PCM sound and thus provide diverting multichannel effects. Ambisonic settings, if availble on your processor, split the stereo signal into all your speakers pleasantly. For all these digital reorganizing effects, it may sound better if you turn up the volume on the rear or side speakers, if your processor has this option, until you achieve the balance you prefer. Otherwise, it may help to move your surround speakers closer, if possible. This approach may not sound as good as DVD-Audio eventually will, but it is cheaper and you can do it now.
